LA Dodgers, a dynasty in the making
The Los Angeles based team need to win a third consecutive title to be considered a dynasty as was the case with Joe Torre’s NY Yankees.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the MLB champions for the second consecutive season, and that only raises one question: Are they already a dynasty? Not yet, but they’re getting closer thanks to the way their roster is built and the continuity of the organization.
The Los Angeles team has everything it needs to dominate Major League Baseball for years to come. A competent manager to handle a roster full of global stars. An aggressive front office that looks to improve the roster year after year. With that, the sky’s the limit for the Dodgers, who will try to keep adding Commissioner’s Trophies with Shohei Ohtani the reigning ‘poster boy’ of the sport.

A management willing to invest
One of the critical foundations for building a dynasty is having owners willing to pay high salaries to renowned players. That’s what Mark Walter and the entire Dodgers front office have done so far. That’s why they invested heavily in Blake Snell for 2025 and retained key free agents such as Teoscar Hernández and Kiké Hernández with competitive contracts. It’s a given that they will look to strengthen their roster in the best way possible next year.
Furthermore, the team has its core of star players, Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts, Will Smith, and Tommy Edman, signed through 2027. With that, the team could aspire to two more titles if injuries allow, because they could assemble an All-Star Game-worthy team using only their own players.

When considering the Dodgers’ performance since Dave Roberts took over in 2016, the team has tried to generate a definitive legacy but fell short due to a lack of consecutive titles. In 10 years, Los Angeles has played in the World Series five times and won three of them. Winning the championship in 2026 could make the team a ‘bona fide’ dynasty, one of the few that have existed in MLB.

First dynasty since Joe Torre’s Yankees?
Winning the MLB title in three consecutive seasons would be significant, not only for the Dodgers, but for Major League Baseball as a whole. Since the turn of the millennium, no organization in American baseball has won three titles in three consecutive seasons.
The last team to achieve this feat were the New York Yankees, managed by Joe Torre. In 1998, they swept the San Diego Padres, and Scott Brosius was named Most Valuable Player. A year later, led by Mariano Rivera, the Yankees defeated the Atlanta Braves in four games.

What cemented the Yankees as a dynasty was winning the Commissioner’s Trophy in 2000 against the New York Mets, thanks to Derek Jeter’s heroic performances. Their dominance was such that they went on to win two more American League pennants, in 2001, when the Diamondbacks prevented their fourth consecutive championship, and in 2003.
As baseball heads for a winter hibernation with the new season set to commence at the end of March next year, the Dodgers will be the team to beat once again as they aim for a historic run of three consecutive World Series wins.
