The 2022 MLB season has been one of the all-time great ones. We saw Miguel Cabrera break the 3000-hit mark back in April, followed by Albert Pujols entering the 700-homer club, and Aaron Judge breaking Roger Maris’ American League home run record. In a year that started with an unnecessary owner-instigated lockout, we were ultimately treated to an amazing season.

The Wild Card games were done away with in favor of a new Wild Card series, and while the new format didn’t alter the outcome in any way, it treated us to five extra games. And the Wild Card teams have caught more than a few fans off-balance. The Cleveland Guardians are to face the New York Yankees in the the ALDS while the other American League matchup sees the Seattle Mariners travel to face the Houston Astros.

Over in the National League, the west coast will see the San Diego Padres take on the Los Angeles Dodgers while the east coast has a once-in-thirty-years faceoff between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Atlanta Braves.

Reneging on their earlier promises that international customers would be able to stream all regular and post season games via MLB.com, ESPN player, or Apple TV, the league has decided at the last minute and with no prior notice to simply black out all streaming of playoff games worldwide. How the league gets around the fact that they have violated multiple false-advertising laws throughout the world is going to make for interesting viewing in the coming months.

The games are to be broadcast in the US on TBS for the American League games and Fox and Fox Sports 1 for the National League games. Streaming must go through these broadcasters’ portals with a subscription in place.
