Noah Syndergaard joins loaded Dodgers rotation
The unprecedented free agency shuffle continues with Noah Syndergaard now in agreement with the Los Angeles Dodgers to join their loaded pitching rotation
Thor is going to be in Dodger blue next season. The right-handed pitcher, only a month after getting to the World Series with the Philadelphia Phillies, has come to terms with the Dodgers for a one-year, $13 million deal that includes a possible $1.5 million in incentives.
The Dodgers have long hung their hat on their deep bullpen, but falling short at the post season hurdle. Often they choose between a broad range of pitching talent or booming bats, but this season they are shaping up to have both.
After they pulled off the unlikely and managed to sign Clayton Kershaw on a deal that reportedly was worth less than the Rangers offered, they then jumped in with both feet by picking up Syndergaard, plugging perhaps the last gap in their rotation.
They now have Gonsolin, Kershaw, Urías, Buehler, and Syndergaard, giving them a fighting chance to move over that hump that has kept them exiting the playoffs at the earliest stages.
Syndergaard had 24 starts last season and made one relief appearance. Just a year out of Tommy John surgery, he logged 134.2 innings for a 3.94 ERA. The Dodgers are hoping that they can squeeze a little more out of one of the best pitchers to appear on the scene in the last few years.
