Los Ángeles, California Update:

The Toronto Blue Jays doused the flames before they could ignite, evening the World Series at two games apiece with a convincing 6–2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4. The visitors controlled the game from start to finish, showing no signs of fatigue after their record-breaking marathon two nights earlier.

After enduring 18 innings in Game 3, the Dodgers saw the next one slip through their fingers. Shohei Ohtani was far from his best, losing his first World Series start as Toronto’s offense struck at just the right moments to keep their championship hopes burning.

Blue Jays strike back after Ohtani falters

The Dodgers opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly from Kike Hernández, but that was all they could muster against the sharp work of Shane Bieber. The Blue Jays’ bats, wide awake after the marathon game, came alive in the third inning when Vladimir Guerrero Jr. launched a two-run homer to turn the tide. The slugger not only powered Toronto’s comeback but also bolstered his case for Series MVP alongside Ohtani and Alejandro Kirk.

The game was effectively decided in the seventh, a nightmare inning for Ohtani. He was pulled after giving up two more runs, and reliever Anthony Banda fared no better, surrendering two additional RBIs to Bo Bichette and Addison Barger.

Bieber earned the win after an impressive 5.1 innings of work, allowing just one run on four hits. Mason Fluharty, Chris Bassitt and Louis Varland combined to close out the game, giving up only one hit between them. The Dodgers added a late run thanks to Tommy Edman, but by then the game was out of reach.

Dodgers’ home curse continues

With this loss, Los Angeles extended a peculiar streak – more than 62 years without clinching a title on home soil. Every championship in that span has been sealed on the road. Now, with the series tied, everything will hinge on the upcoming weekend in Toronto’s Rogers Centre.

Before that, however, the two teams will square off one last time in California. Game 5 takes place Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium, with Trey Yesavage (2–1 this postseason) set to start for Toronto. Opposite him will be Blake Snell (3–1), one of Dave Roberts’ most trusted arms.
