Shohei Ohtani in free fall
Dodgers star goes 0-for-14 amid team-wide power drought, while manager Dave Roberts backs him to break out of slump.

Shohei Ohtani has gone cold at the plate in recent games for the Los Angeles Dodgers, going hitless in four straight contests. It marks his longest drought without a hit in four years.
Roberts backs Ohtani amid slump
Even Dodgers manager Dave Roberts acknowledged the slump, but made it clear he is not concerned about his star player’s long-term form.
“Without question, he sets extremely high standards for himself,” Roberts said. “We all do. I know he is frustrated, but it is not showing in his attitude,” he added after the Dodgers’ 4-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

Despite the rough stretch, Roberts emphasized confidence in Ohtani’s ability to bounce back quickly, pointing to his consistency and approach rather than the short-term results.
Offensive struggles spread across Dodgers lineup
Ohtani went 0-for-3 in Sunday’s win, extending his slump to 0-for-14 over his last four games. It is his longest hitless streak since he went 0-for-12 over five games with the Los Angeles Angels from May 24 to May 28, 2022.
The downturn is not limited to Ohtani. The Dodgers have also gone six straight games without a home run, their longest power drought since an eight-game stretch between July 10 and July 21, 2014.
Dodgers snap losing streak, but concerns remain
Sunday’s win also snapped a four-game losing streak for Los Angeles. During that skid, the Dodgers scored two runs or fewer in each game, underscoring broader issues with offensive production beyond just Ohtani’s slump.
