Estados Unidos Update:

The LA Dodgers are one step away from returning to the MLB World Series after winning the first two games in Milwaukee, however, they are still waiting for their big name player, Shohei Ohtani to deliver with the Japanese failing to shine in the Playoffs.

In 34 appearances in the playoffs, Ohtani has only five hits, two home runs, and six RBIs, while striking out 15 times. He’s batting .147 in the postseason. Six Dodgers players have better numbers than the 31-year-old.

Meanwhile, the regular season featured a .282 batting average, 172 hits, and 55 home runs. Only Cal Raleigh and Kyle Schwarber had more than the Japanese player.

Last year, he finished the postseason with 14 hits in 61 at-bats, 22 strikeouts, and three home runs. In 24 career playoff games, he’s hitting .200 with five home runs and 37 strikeouts.

The Ohtani Factor

Despite this, the Dodgers aren’t worried as they can count on the pitching rotation of Blake Snell, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, and Ohtani himself.

“We’re not going to win the World Series without Sho. His at-bats have been fantastic: controlling the zone, setting up Mookie,” said the manager of the current MLB champions.

Beyond the fact that Ohtani has struggled with left-handed pitching, Roberts said they should “reflect a little on that series and how aggressive he was outside the strike zone, passive in the zone. Just the quality of his at-bats needs to improve.”

The Dodgers face the Brewers in Los Angeles for Game 3 on Thursday evening with the team holding a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.
