Venezuelan players in the Major Leagues include Ronald Acuña Jr, who picked up the National League MVP last year, but there are also veterans like Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Pérez, who is still making his mark in American baseball.

The Royals catcher hit a home run in the fourth inning of the game against the New York Mets at Citi Field and in doing so, reached 250 career HRs in the Majors. Salvy reached the milestone, but not without controversy as the play had been credited as a double, but was later corrected by the umpires.

The five Venezuelan players with the most home runs

The game ended with a 11-7 victory for the Royals and the Venezuelan went 2 for 5 with four RBIs. Currently, Pérez is in the third year of a four-season, $82 million extension of dollars that he signed in March 2021.

The best Venezuelan in terms of home runs is Miguel Cabrera, who said goodbye to the Major Leagues last year. The Maracay-born player added 511 complete rounds in his 21-year career in American parks.

The Top 5 is completed by Andrés Gallarága (399), Magglio Ordóñez (294), Bobby Abreu (288) and Tony Armas (251). Pérez needs two more to surpass Armas, who played in the MLB between 1976 and 1989.
