Max Fried secures historic contract with the Yankees
It is the most lucrative deal in MLB history for a left-hander and the fourth biggest for a pitcher.
The three-time Gold Glove winner spent eight years as a pro with the Atlanta Braves and made 29 starts last season with 166 strikeouts and a 3.25 ERA. Fried won 11 games and lost 10. He also pitched two complete games, including one shutout.
The 30-year-old previously signed rolling one-year contracts with the Braves - the last of which was for $15 million in his final year of arbitration.
His new contract with the Yankees Fried’s deal will reportedly include a full no-trade clause and no deferred money.
