Who is Jaden Agassi, son of Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, and pitcher in the upcoming World Baseball Classic in Arizona?
The World Baseball Classic qualifiers take place in late February and early March, and Germany’s lineup will contain one very famous surname.

There are vague similarities between baseball and tennis, in that the general aim of the game is to hit a moving ball pretty hard using a hand-held object. It maybe shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, then, that the son of two former world No. 1 tennis players will pitch at the World Baseball Classic qualifiers in Arizona.
Jaden Agassi, the son of Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf, will attempt to help Germany qualify for the 2026 World Baseball Classic for the first time in the country’s history. The European nation will take on China, Colombia and Brazil in a round-robin qualification tournament at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Tucson between March 2 and March 4. Two of the four teams will progress to the finals, to be played in March 2026.
Why Jaden Agassi picked baseball over tennis
“I started playing baseball when I was six years old in T-ball,” 23-year-old Agassi told MLB.com. “I loved it. I’ve picked up a tennis racquet a good amount, but it was always hard for me to keep that ball in between the lines. I just wanted to hit that thing as far as I could. Baseball had my love since day one.”
Inevitably, Agassi Jr will forever be associated with his famous parents. His father won eight Grand Slam titles between 1990 and 2003, while his mother was considerably more dominant in the women’s game, with 22 major singles titles to her name.
“Agassi is a very tennis last name, of course. The goal is to try to make it a baseball one”, the young pitcher ambitiously said to WKBN News.
The Agassi-Graf family
Although Jaden was born in the United States, played developmental baseball in Las Vegas and pitched at college in Southern California, he represents Germany, Graf’s country of birth.
Agassi Sr and Graf began dating after the 1999 French Open and married a little over two years later, in October 2001. As well as son Jaden, they also have a daughter together, 21-year-old Jaz Elle.
What team does Jaden Agassi play for?
Agassi made 40 appearances (19 starts) for the USC Trojans between 2021 and 2023. He went undrafted in both 2023 and 2024, playing for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the MLB Draft League last year.
