Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has officially been named to the Dominican Republic roster for the upcoming World Baseball Classic, according to the Dominican Baseball Federation (FEDOM) and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Dominican roster

The Blue Jays’ first baseman joins a star‑studded group that already includes Fernando Tatis Jr., Oneil Cruz, and pitchers Cristopher Sánchez and Sandy Alcántara, all of whom have confirmed their participation. In the 2023 tournament, the Dominican Republic failed to advance past the group stage, winning just two of its four games.

Guerrero Jr. is coming off a standout season with Toronto, a year in which the Canadian club reached the World Series, ultimately falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a dramatic Game 7.

The Dominican‑Canadian slugger posted a .292 batting average, an .848 OPS, and a 133 OPS+, along with 23 home runs, 84 RBIs, and 96 runs scored — a strong all‑around campaign that makes him a major addition to the Dominican lineup.

The 2026 World Baseball Classic will be played from March 5 to 17, with the pool-play taking place in Miami, Houston, San Juan (Puerto Rico) and Tokyo.
