Who can stop Team USA in the World Baseball Classic? More big names added to roster
Team USA has unveiled further additions to its star-studded roster for next year’s World Baseball Classic.
The United States continues to roll out the names of the players who will make up its roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, and the latest announcement features four top‑tier arms: Detroit Tigers left‑hander Tarik Skubal, New York Yankees reliever David Bednar, San Francisco Giants ace Logan Webb, and San Diego Padres fireballer Mason Miller.
Skubal is widely regarded as one of the premier pitchers of his generation. He’s captured back‑to‑back American League Cy Young Awards during his time with the Detroit Tigers. In his most recent season, he posted a 13-6 record with a 2.21 ERA, racked up 241 strikeouts, and delivered an elite 0.89 WHIP.
Bednar, a two‑time All‑Star, produced a combined 2.30 ERA across his stints with the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees, along with 27 saves and a personal‑best 12.4 K/9 over 64 appearances in 2025. He’s the only pitcher returning - so far - from the 2023 roster that fell to Japan in the championship game.
Webb turned in a strong 2025 campaign for the San Francisco Giants, working 207 innings with a 3.22 ERA and 224 strikeouts, once again anchoring the Giants’ rotation.
Finally, Miller has emerged as one of the most dominant relievers in Major League Baseball. Splitting the season between the Athletics and the San Diego Padres, he struck out 104 batters in 60 outings and finished with a 2.63 ERA.
Who else is on USA’s WBC roster?
Team USA had already solidified a formidable rotation featuring reigning National League Cy Young winner Paul Skenes, Minnesota Twins ace Joe Ryan, Chicago Cubs All‑Star Matthew Boyd, and right‑handers Nolan McLean and Clay Holmes of the New York Mets.
As if that weren’t enough, the lineup is also set to include Aaron Judge, Bobby Witt Jr., Cal Raleigh, and Kyle Schwarber among its star‑studded position‑player group.
When is the 2026 World Baseball Classic?
Hosted jointly by Japan and the United States, the sixth World Baseball Classic is to take place between March 5 and March 17, 2026. Seeking its second WBC crown, Team USA is in Pool B, alongside Mexico, Italy, Great Britain and Brazil.
