Freddie Freeman hit a solo home run to the center of the Rogers Center on Sunday in the Dodgers’ 3-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Los Angeles team came out with a positive result in the series by winning two of three games.

The Dodgers player has been in good form lately and extended his hitting streak to eight consecutive games. Four of those games he has had multi-hit performances and is batting .306 this season with an .856 OPS. The series against Toronto was particularly special for Freeman due to his family connections. His parents are from Canada and both were present in each of the games.

Special dedication

Freeman was raised in Orange County, California and this was just the second time he played in Toronto and the first time since the 2021 season. So it was an emotional moment when he hit a home run and dedicated it to his father.

“It was nice, especially here in Canada. I know he’s seen a few of them in his day but being here in Toronto, in this special place for our family, I’m happy I was able to do that for him. So, he’s going to dinner tonight with the best man of his wedding, with my mom tonight. It’s just been a good trip for my dad and I and my stepmom. Hopefully they have a good night tonight while I wait for him but it was nice to do something good for him” Freddie said after the game.

The Dodgers player's mother died when he was 10 years old, but it has always been an extra motivation to be successful in his career. Freddie Freeman spoke about the impact he has had and how it has motivated him to succeed in the Major Leagues .

She is at the forefront of everything, almost everything I do is for her. Returning to Toronto, especially in the place where she was born and raised, is always special,” the player added before returning to Los Angeles.

Freeman and the Dodgers followed their series against the Blue Jays up with a 4-8 win against the Diamondbacks. The team sits top of the National League West standings with a record of 19-12.
