Basketball is back! Well not totally. But for those of you that have been jonesing for some basketball since a month ago when the Denver Nuggets beat the Miami Heat in Game 5 of the Finals, fear not, the NBA Summer League is here to scratch that itch.

The appetizer before Vegas

There are three different Summer Leagues that will take place in three different cities over the next month. The main one will take place in Las Vegas from the 7th to the 17th of July, but before that we will have two other mini Summer Leagues, the California Classic and the Salt Lake City Summer League.

The four day round robin hosted by the Utah Jazz will take place at the Delta Center from July 3-6. For fans and front offices the four teams involved, it will be a chance to get a first glimpse at their draft picks on the court with their new teams.

While neither the head coaches nor the star players will be there, it will give the young guys a chance to make a first impression before preparing for their rookie year.

The four teams competing in Salt Lake City will be the Utah Jazz, Memphis Grizzlies, Oklahoma City Thunder and the Philadelphia 76ers. The homeside will be starring Keyonte George, Taylor Hendricks and Brice Sensabaugh who they took with all three of their first round picks. One of the only centers taken in the first round, Dereck Lively II will be on display for the OKC Thunder, while the Grizzlies two second round picks Tarik Biberovic and Gregory Jackson II will be making their debut for Memphis.

Will we see Holmgren?

Philly didn’t have a single draft pick, but will have plenty of their young guys hitting the hardwood as the Sixers look to bounce back from a disappointing season. One of the main questions that looms around the Salt Lake Summer league is will we see Chet Holmgren? He was the Thunder’s No. 2 overall pick in last year’s draft but missed the entire 2022/2023 season with a foot injury.

The action starts on the 3rd of July at 7:00 p.m. ET, and wrap up four days later. Take a look the entire four day schedule over the course of the next few days in Utah.
