Update:

Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has made a name for himself for his exploits off the court as a well as on it. Professionally, Edwards has excelled - as the youngest player in NBA history to reach 1,000 career three-point shots and this season became the first player in the franchise’s history to post three consecutive 40-point games.

Off the court, it’s been a different story. Edwards’ private life is a complex web of broken relationships, children born out of wedlock and now, two ongoing legal battles - a paternity lawsuit and another involving custody and child support.

The lawsuits were filed by his ex-partners: Alexandria Descroches and Ayesha Howard.

Anthony Edwards complex family life

Desroches filed her claim in New York on March 13. She claims that Edwards is the father of her son, who was born in October 2023. She states that their son was conceived in Minnesota in February 2023 and that she has been raising the child independently.

Desroches add that while Edwards has “admitted to the paternity” of their child, and also provided “some monetary support”, he has not visited them despite having an “open-door policy”.

She wants the courts to rule that Edwards is “legally determined to be the father of the child” and is seeking payment for pre- and post-natal care, childcare and insurance for their son.

Edwards filed a countersuit, in Gwinnett County, Georgia on March 21 which has since been terminated. He followed that by filing a second paternity action - his lawyer claiming the child was “conceived and born in Georgia” and “all interactions between Anthony and Alexandria took place in Georgia.”

Second lawsuit countered with paternity motion

As if that isn’t enough for Edwards to deal with, he is also facing a legal battle with another of his former girlfriends. He met influencer Ayesha Howard in 2022 and Ayesha gave birth to a daughter, Aubri Summer Howard, in October 14 2024.

In September 2024, Edwards filed a paternity motion, requesting the court to order Ayesha and the child to undergo DNA testing by a neutral and licensed laboratory to prove that he is the father.

Edwards also has a daughter, Aislynn, who was born in March 2024 to Shannon Jackson.

The NBA star has gone to great lengths to keep his private affairs out of the spotlight: “I am handling my personal matters privately and will not be commenting on them any further at this time,” he told reporters, regarding another separate case in November 2023.
