Bronny James has participated in several games in the NBA summer leagues. Over the years, both the California Classic (San Francisco) and NBA 2K25 Summer League (Las Vegas) have been used to train the new promises of the franchises for the next NBA season.

James Jr. generated doubts due to the poor performances he was putting out his first games for the Lakers: on his debut, on Saturday, July 6, against the Sacramento Kings, he only managed 4 points, 4 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal.

Bronny James’ recent LA Lakers record

However, in the two most recent games has shown a better version of himself. In the last matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the eldest son of LeBron James got 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks in a 93-89 victory for the Lakers.

Added to that, in the 87-86 win over the Atlanta Hawks, Bronny scored 12 points in just 23 minutes of play. As time goes on, it seems the player is showing steady progress: prior to this pair of games he had hit just 7 of 31 shots (23% efficiency) and was averaging 4.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists.

He even received unexpected criticism from the reigning Finals MVP, Jaylen Brown, who admitted that Bronny’s performance was poor and added that he still lacked the level to make inroads in the NBA.

More Bronny:

For now, Bronny remains in the eye of the storm and all the media attention that comes with the James surname. However, he is adapting better every day and certainly has his father watching over him, giving him advice on how to succeed.

Bronny simply needs time; he is a young player with no experience at the elite level. The James surname clearly, as mentioned, brings with it some added pressure, but negative media exposure and social media criticism will not help him to succeed or grow in the correct way as a prospect. Let’s give Bronny time to find his feet and make an impact on the sport when he is ready.
