The New York Knicks are a win away from reaching the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years. They are up 3-1 and only 13 teams in NBA history have ever come back from that sort of deficit. The Knicks have a chance to close out the series in Boston on Wednesday night.

This was the moment tragedy struck for the Celtics. With the game slipping away, Boston lost the ball and Tatum went down after appearing to suffer a lower leg injury. He stayed down on the floor writhing in pain before getting helped off the floor without being able to be put any pressure on his right leg. Cameras in MSG would show him later being taken to the locker room in a wheel chair visibly distraught.

Late in the game, with everyone eyeing Brunson, it was Mikal Bridges that rose to the occasion and took some of the pressure off of Brunson. He hit a couple of clutch buckets deep in the fourth quarter and helped guide the Knicks to the massive Game 4 win.

as.com

It looked like the game was getting away from the Celtics in the 4th quarter but Jayson Tatum brought them back to life with back to back threes and ended the night with 42 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks. He had a fantastic night that ended in disaster. He would go down late in the game and no come back in what looked to be a serious injury to his lower right leg.

The Knicks took the lead at the end of the third quarter but they had only led for 12 minutes this entire series. Once they took the lead, they didn't look back. Again, it wasn't just Brunson. KAT had 23, Anunoby had 20 and Bridges had a huge second alf and ended the night with 23.

as.com

There was a point where it was just Brunson and Tatum going toe to toe in the 3rd quarter. Brunson poured in 18 points in the 3rd and the most clutch player in the NBA was just getting started. New York took the lead late in the 3rd quarter and hung on to it until the finish line.

White was money from downtown and hit big shot after big shot as the Knicks tried and tried to take the lead. He had 23 on the night and went 6/11 from three point range.

as.com

Karl-Anthony Towns had a big night from the field, going 11/15 from the field and had 23 and 11 rebounds. It wasn't just going to be up to Jalen Brunson to led the Knicks to victory. KAT needed to be big and he was.

Jayson Tatum was unstoppable in Game 4. He came out locked in and set the tone not just on the offensive end but on the defensive end too. Tatum had three threes in a matter of seconds to put the Celtics up 11 thanks to a 12-0 run that all came from downtown. Boston went 12/24 from DT in the first half but ended the game 18/48 as they went cold from outside in the second half.

The defense was on a different level tonight for the Knicks. They got dragged around in Game 3 and came out with a different attitude on what might have been the biggest night in the Garden in over two decades.

NBA Lottery

There will only be one winner from MSG tonight, but the Dallas Mavericks are the winners of the night and the early offseason. They had a dreadful season that Saw Luka Doncic ship off to LA, Anthony Davis get injured in his debut, and Kyrie tear his ACL. Tonight they got their first bit of good news in a while. They will have the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft after winning the NBA Lottery tonight.

Starting five Celtics

The C's are going with their stating five they have had for the last few games. No Prozingis in the starting five, but it's White, Holiday, Brown, Tatum and Horford to start the night off. They have got off to great starts the last few games, it'll be up to this five to do the same tonight.

Knicks starting five

Coach Thibs has all of his big guns ready for this huge Game 4 from the Garden. It's Brunson, Bridges, Hart, Anunoby and Towns to start off this match up with the possiblity of going up 3-1 in the series.

Knicks injury report

The New York Knicks could have a problem on their hands and it has to do with the hand of Karl-Anthony Towns. KAT took a shot to his left hand in Game 3 and appeared to tell the bench “I broke it.” He was visibly in pain for the rest of the game, but that didn’t stop him from putting up 21 and 15 in the loss from New York. Despite KAT battling through the injury all game just a couple nights ago, he is not listed on the injury report. When asked about the injury KAT replied, “It is what it is. I just want to do whatever I can to be out there. I ain’t tripping.”

Celtics injury report

There has been a lot of talk about Kristaps Porzingis and his mystery illness that sidelined him for the final few quarters of Game 1. He came back for Game 2 and 3, but cored just 13 points in a combined 33 minutes. He has been a shade of himself, but just being out there has made a difference for the Celtics. He is a go for tonight’s game, and Sam Hauser who sprained his ankle in Game 1 is listed as questionable after missing Games 2 and 3. He would add even more three point shooting off the bench if he is able to play in this massive match up from Madison Square Garden.

Live and die from three point range

The long ball has been the underlying story in this series. Everyone knows the Celtics live and die by the three ball and that was ultimately their downfall in the first two games of the series. They went 25/100 in the couple games from Boston and set a playoff record for three pointers attempted in Game 1. They went 15/60 and then 10/40 in the next game. They finally straightened the ship out in Game 3 from Madison Square Garden, shooting 20/40 from behind the arc in the blowout win. It shouldn’t be as simple that, but for the C’s if they can heat up from the three point line tonight, the Knicks are going to have an awfully tough time winning this series.

Is Tatum “that guy”?

There is no questioning Jayson Tatum is one of the best players in the league. He is an NBA champion, and even though he may not be in the MVP conversation. He has made statements crowning himself “humbly, I’m one of the best basketball players in the world.” After the win in Game 3, Tatum went to the podium in the post game presser and declared himself “That guy.” He has come under some criticism, especially following the two late game collapses, and responded to those critics “I live a great life. I make a lot of money… But I’m not perfect,” he said. “There are times I’ve needed to play better… That’s what comes with being that guy." The message was met with mixed recations, but Tatum can silence some of those critics with a big night on the road in Game 4.

Road teams this round

It’s been a strange start to the Conference Semifinals in both the East and the West. The first six games of this round were won by the road team including two games won by the Pacers over the top seeded Cavs in Cleveland. In all, the home team has won just four of the 14 games that have been played coming into tonight. None of the home teams in this series have won, but the Knicks will be looking to change that tonight. So far the Thunder, Wolves, Nuggets and Pacers have won a game at home. The Knicks, Celtics, Cavs and Warriors have yet to win at home. New York and Golden State will have a chance to join the list tonight.

Star watch: Knicks

Even though the Knicks won the first two games of this series, Jalen Brunson was far from perfect. He has struggled in the first half of each game in this series, and in Game 3 wasn’t able to lift his team up late in second half like he did in the first two games. He’s averaging 24.3 points a game, which is just a point and a half below his season average, but he is shooting 38% this series which is way under his FG percentage this season. If the Knicks are going to have any chance to win this series, Brunson has to be at his best for all four quarters tonight and for the rest of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

as.com

Star watch: Celtics

The best Boston player over the first three games of this series hasn’t been Jayson Tatum or Jaylen Brown. In fact, the best player so far in this series has started each of the games in EC Semis off the bench. Payton Pritchard was named the Sixth Man of the Year after posting 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists a game and he had 23 points in the Game 3 win from New York. Boston already has one of the best starting fives, if not the best starting five in the NBA, and when you add the Sixth Man of the Year to that equation, it makes the defending champions that much harder to beat.

Game 3 recap

After to late game collapses, Boston went into to New York knowing going down 3-0 would more than likely cost them a chance at a back to back title run. They came out and played like their lives were on the line in a wire to wire win in Game 3. They went up by double digits in the first quarter much like they did in the first two games, the only difference was they held on to the lead and even added to it in the second half. Payton Pritchard led the Celtics with 23 points as the lead stretched up to 31 points and the Celtics cruised to victory to cut their series deficit to 2-1.

We are live from MSG

Hello everyone and welcome to the Garden where the Knicks know what’s at stake tonight in front of their home fans. They took care of the hardest part, which was winning two games in Boston, but lost their home opener in the series and now need a win before handing home court advantage back to Boston by the end of the night. The Celtics haven’t just been the better team for 10 of the 12 quarters of this series, they have been the much better team. A couple of fourth quarter collapses have cost the defending champions two games, but now they are trying to climb out of the hold they dug themselves early in the series. It’s a huge Game 4
