Dave Portnoy bets $100,000 on Caitlin Clark: How much will he get if Indiana Fever win the WNBA?
After a slow start to the season, Clark and the Fever came into form in the WNBA before its break for the 2024 Olympic Games.
The WNBA has been on hiatus for almost a month, with many of the league’s top stars taking part in the women’s basketball tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, which finished on Sunday. Caitlin Clark, of course, wasn’t one of them after the was left off the Team USA roster, with USWBNT coach Cheryl Reeve going for experience over youth.

As a result, we haven’t see the 22-year-old in action since July 18, when her Indiana Fever lost 101-93 to the Dallas Wings. But Clark and the Fever are now gearing up for their returns to action, namely a home game against the Phoenix Mercury on Friday, August 16 (tip-off at 7:30 p.m. ET).
After an incredibly slow start to the season, Indiana were trending in the right direction in the run-up to the Olympic break. And one man has more reason than most to hope that continues as the WNBA resumes.
What bet did Portnoy place on Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever?
Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports and well-known pizza reviewer, has placed a $100,000 bet on Clark and the Fever to win the WNBA Finals at the end of the season at odds of 100/1 (+10000). If it happens, Portnoy stands to make $10.1 million.
Portnoy’s backing for Clark doesn’t come as a huge surprise, as he has previously spoken of his admiration for the former Iowa Hawkeye point guard and was publicly critical of the decision to leave her off the Olympic team.
The Fever lost 10 and won only three of their first 13 games of the season, but were on a run of eight victories and five losses in 13 ahead of the Olympic break. An overall 11-15 record leaves Indiana seventh in the overall standings, with the top eight qualifying for the 2024 WNBA Playoffs.
