Draymond Green reignites Kevin Durant beef: “I don’t care about the opinion of someone who doesn’t win”
Green and Durant have had several run-ins over the years and are now at odds about how teams with NBA championships.

The long-standing tension between Draymond Green and Kevin Durant is no secret. Their clashes during their time together with the Golden State Warriors ultimately led to Durant leaving for Brooklyn, joining a star-studded team built for the modern era of player empowerment. Meanwhile, the Warriors continued to solidify their dynasty, winning another title in 2022.
Durant, meanwhile, moved from the Nets to the Suns and is now with the Rockets, a team that invested heavily in a 37-year-old star who still has undeniable, innate talent. His longevity only proves that the past has a way of resurfacing, and there is always a story to tell.

Defense versus offense
Durant recently argued that offense wins championships. When a reporter asked Green about those comments, he didn’t hold back. “People who don’t think defense is as valuable as it is, simply don’t win. I don’t think anyone really cares about the opinion of people who don’t win because your opinion doesn’t matter.”
The reporter reminded Green that Durant had, in fact, won championships. Green, who has also taken aim at the New York Knicks and Jalen Brunson recently, acknowledged it, but added that it was with them, one of the greatest teams of all time, where defense was nothing short of spectacular. That defensive foundation was a key reason that team achieved so much.
Green’s personality fuels debate
This isn’t the first time Green has spoken his mind. His outspoken style is polarizing - some find it destructive, others see it as quintessentially NBA. The league thrives on debate, controversy, and social media battles, where opinions are amplified and every remark becomes part of the public conversation. In that sense, the NBA feeds off personalities like Green, larger-than-life figures reminiscent of Charles Barkley or Shaquille O’Neal, who keep discussion and controversy alive.
The Warriors dynasty
Golden State’s dynasty, one of the most dominant the NBA has ever seen, compiled a near-mythical resume: four titles, six Finals appearances, epic showdowns with LeBron James’ Cavaliers, and the ability to overwhelm virtually any opponent. Durant played a central role in two of those championships, leaving the Thunder and Russell Westbrook behind to chase rings, earning Finals MVP honors both times.
With Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Andre Iguodala, Durant and Green formed what was famously known as the “Death Lineup.” It was a dream team that left a massive legacy, one that remains incredibly difficult to replicate.
