Draymond Green’s kids join post game interview

After the Warriors evened the series against the Lakers in Game 2 of the Conference Semifinals, Draymond Green brought some “kid energy” to the postgame.

Update:

On Thursday, the Golden State Warriors beat the Los Angeles Lakers 127-100 in Game 2 of the Conference Semifinals. As Draymond Green came on to do his postgame interview, he was joined by his two adorable children, which inspired a whole monologue from Green about being a working parent.

“When you bring kid energy, it just lightens the mood”

As Green was joined by his son and daughter at the podium, he reflected on why he appreciates it so much that they are allowed to be up there with him for those moments.

“We miss so much times with our kids,” said Green. “I think that’s every working parent, right? It’s not just us as basketball players. You have an obligation to provide for your child. Growing up in the circumstances that I grew up in, I never want them to experience that,” Green said.

Green did not come from money, and he’s talked about the fact that he knew his family was poor, but he never felt poor because they had everything they needed.

“With that, comes a lot of work. The times that you miss, it sucks. I think anyone in here who’s a parent understands that,” said Green with his two kids on his lap. “I’m always thankful for the Warriors organization and the NBA as a whole.”

“They don’t have to allow our kids up here; it’s not something that they have to do,” he continued. “We always talk about kid energy in here. When you bring kid energy, it just lightens the mood.”

That, it did! As the interview ended, Green asked his daughter if she’d like to say something. She hummed a little tune into the microphone and then his son said, “bo bo boa”, which prompted giggles from his little sister. He amused himself as well, saying, “I said ‘bo bo boa!’” Green told them to say thank you, and they did so very politely before scampering off while Green called after them to pull their shirt down. A parent is a parent - NBA star or otherwise.
