The Miami Heat were the dark horse, squeaking into the playoffs and drawing the top seeded Milwaukee Bucks for their trouble. Now the Heat are just one game away from pulling off a stunning upset.

The Bucks have their backs against the wall, to be sure, but the good news is that there is precedent for pulling off the unlikely comeback in the NBA.

While the historical mark is 258-13 for teams that are three games up, over half of those 13 salvations have come in the last two decades and five of them have been in the last seven years.

The king of the comeback is the Denver Nuggets, who overcame that deficit twice in the 2020 playoffs, coming back to beat both the Jazz and the Clippers.

The Cavs did it is 2016 and the Rockets managed the feat only the year before that.

Although the Heat have managed it once in their history, when they overcame a 3-1 deficit in the 1997 semi Finals to beat the Knicks, the Bucks have never yet done it themselves. But you never know when lady luck will shine on you, it could be today.
