The Knicks have been anxiously waiting to see how Immanuel Quickley responded after suffering an ankle injury in Saturday’s 105-86 defeat to the Heat in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals. Quickley injured his left ankle in the fourth quarter after tripping over Bam Adebayo as both contested a loose ball.

The Knicks’ sixth man headed straight to the locker room to have his ankle assessed. Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau confirmed in his post-game press conference that Quickley had suffered a sprain, adding that the player would undergo further tests on Sunday.

Quickley sidelined

The Knicks confirmed Quickley’s status for Game 5 as “doubtful”, meaning that he will be highly unlikely to play any part in Wednesday’s game as Thibodeau’s team try to claw their way back after going 3-1 down in the series. The 23-year-old guard had been averaging 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game this season. He limped out of Saturday’s game after contributing 12 points with 4-for-12 shooting and 2-for-8 from beyond the paint.

Jalen Brunson has also been playing with discomfort to his right ankle. He was listed as questionable going into Game 2 but has played in all four games, averaging 26.75 points so far in the series. He has been receiving ‘around the clock’ treatment but there has been no official word on his status heading into Game 5.

Tonight’s game tips off at 7:30 p.m. EDT / 4:30 p.m. PDT at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
