The NBA Summer League rolls on as the the California Classic comes to an end tonight. The Los Angeles Lakers take on the Miami Heat in the final game of the Classic before heading to Las Vegas to join the rest of the teams in the NBA 2K25 Summer League.

Bounce back for Bronny?

All eyes will be on Bronny James tonight after the son of one of the greatest players of all time will take the stage for the second time in a Lakers uniform. Bronny had an underwhelming debut against the Sacramento Kings over the weekend, scoring just four points and hitting just two of his nine of his field goals.

His first taste of NBA action was met with mixed reviews. There were already plenty of critics claiming that Bronny’s one year in college didn’t merit him being selected with the 55th pick of the draft, and his debut may have added fuel to the fire for those critics. But LeBron had a different reaction when he saw Bronny’s first bucket in a Lakers jersey, stating “that’s tough” after Bronny drove down the lane and hung a lay up high off the glass .

Bronny was kept out of the Lakers last game against the Golden State Warriors after some minor swelling on his left knee, but was listed as day-to-day and is expected to play tonight against the Heat. The Lakers got crushed in that game, losing 92-68 to a Golden State team that allowed an average of 67 points in their first two games.

Bronny back on the court

The Lakers will try to turn on the offense tonight against the Heat with tip off at 7 p.m. ET from Chase Center as Bronny and company look for their first win in the California Classic. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and streamed on ESPN+.

Of course Bronny is going to be the only one on display tonight in San Francisco. Dalton Knecht was the Lakers first round pick. He was the leading scorer in LA’s loss to the Warriors on Sunday, scoring 12 points, but struggling from the field for a second straight game. He went 3/13 after going 3/12 from 12 points in the Lakers first game against the Kings.

Blake Hinson will try to get back on track after a slow shooting day from the field against the Warriors. He went 2/10 from the field, all three pointers, and scored six points after scoring 17 points and sinking five threes against Sacramento.

After tonight’s game the Lakers will travel to Las Vegas where they will play four more games while trying to be crowned champions of the NBA’s 2K25 Summer League.
