Will Lillard play in the Bucks’ Game 4 against the Pacers? What is his injury?
The Bucks point guard sent pulses racing as he relapsed on an achilles injury in Game 3 against the Pacers.
The Pacers are currently 2-1 up in the series against the Bucks and the losing side are not finding any luck as they go into Game 4 (Sunday, April 28, with tip-off at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.).
So far, they have been without two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton also filled up the injury room in the buildup to the third game.
Now, ahead of Game 4, their bad fortune seems to be piling up as Damian Lillard could well be injured after aggravating an achilles injury, straining the tendon. The Athletic reported that the player is in a walking boot, just hours from their next game, while ESPN reported that the player underwent an MRI scan.
The player revealed that he had been playing through pain at the end of the regular season but wanted to help his side: “I just wanted to be on the floor in case opportunity came up or however I could help.”
What injury does Damian Lillard have?
Lillard hurt himself in Game 3 in the first quarter. He landed on his left leg and appeared to injure his knee. He was examined in the locker room but returned to the game in the second quarter. It now appears that he has injured his achilles tendon (the big tendon on the back of the ankle).
“We’re gonna get back and just have to get ahead of it because that’s not something that you want to play with. It’s one of those spots on your body where you literally can’t, you can’t do nothing about it. If you can’t move you can’t move. We have a couple of days to start and try to get ahead of it. Get it feeling better and get ready for Sunday.”
“When I went out there, I knew it was gonna be a little uncomfortable but I didn’t feel like I was putting myself in danger,” Lillard admitted after the game.
Will Lillard play in Game 4?
Lillard is currently listed as ‘doubtful’ ahead of Game 4 against the Mavs, with his tendonitis in his ricght ankle the reason behind the listing on the official NBA injury report.
“We just gotta try and get the next one,” he added. “Once you do that, then it becomes a new series again, and then after that it continues to change every game. We just gotta turn the page and focus on getting one before we get out of here.”
“We’re not going to rush anybody back,” Bucks coach Doc Rivers said. “It’s too dangerous to do that... We are just taking a lot of hits right now as far as injury-wise”. The game between the Bucks and the Pacers will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Sunday, April 28, with tip-off at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
