Is Karl-Anthony Towns playing against the Denver Nuggets, tonight April 10?
The Minnesota Timberwolves have a pivotal game against the Denver Nuggets to determine who will take the one seed and home court in the Western Conference.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are set for a massive matchup with the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night in a game that could determine who has home court advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs. The T’Wolves know they will be without their All-Star center Karl-Anthony Towns, but are anxiously awaiting news about his return.
Towns nearing return
Towns was injured in early March and had to have surgery for a torn meniscus on his left knee the day after. The team said they would have an update on his status four weeks after surgery and we are at the four week mark exactly today.
Reports out of Minnesota claim that while Towns isn’t going to play in the game against the Nuggets, but he could be back in the starting five as early as Friday against Atlanta or Sunday in the regular season finale against Phoenix.
Thanks to Anthony Edwards and company, the Timberwolves have been able to hold on to the top spot in the West since their big man went down. Edwards has been sensational in KAT’s absence, and will certainly draw some MVP consideration.
Reid stepping up in KAT’s absence
Naz Reid has been getting the majority of the minutes with Towns on the sidelines and has been thriving lately. In the last three games in which Anthony Edwards wasn’t the top scorer for the T’Wolves, it has been Reid who dropped 31 in a win over the Lakers this past weekend.
Towns has missed 18 games this season, but in the 60 games he has played he averaged 22.1 points and 8.4 rebounds a game. Minnesota would love to get their center back before the playoffs start to get some game time in the final games of the regular season before getting almost a week rest during the Play-In Tournament.
