Update:

The New York Knicks have agreed a deal to keep forward Mikal Bridges at the team with a new contract extension.

ESPN reports that Bridges has agreed terms on a four-year deal worth $150 million, only slightly below his max extension number of $156 million. Last year Bridges was a key part of the Knicks team that made it to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in 25 years.

He joined the team from the Brooklyn Nets last summer and he quickly became a key player with the Knicks. He was part of the starting five that former head coach Tom Thibodeau played relentless throughout the 2024/25 season. Bridges actually spoke publicly about the relentless demands with the Knicks, admitting that he had spoken to Thibodeau about it.

Sometimes it’s not fun on the body,” Bridges told the New York Post. “You’ll want that as a coach but also talked to him a little bit knowing that we’ve got a good enough team where our bench guys can come in and we don’t need to play 48 [minutes], 47.”

“We’ve got a lot of good guys on this team that can take away minutes,” he continued. “Which helps the defense, helps the offense, helps tired bodies being out there and giving up all these points. It helps just keeping fresh bodies out there.”

But despite those heightened demands, Bridges has been incredibly durable throughout his career. He holds the active record for most consecutive NBA games played, having not missed a single game since being drafted in 2018. The Knicks are certainly getting their money’s worth.
