Knicks victory parade 2026: Full guide to route, schedule, and city plans
New York prepares for its first-ever Knicks ticker-tape parade after a historic NBA title. Here’s what fans need to know before heading downtown.

New York City is preparing for a landmark moment in its sports history as the Knicks return home as NBA champions for the first time in more than five decades after defeating the San Antonio Spurs in the Finals. The city is now finalizing plans for a massive ticker-tape parade expected to draw hundreds of thousands of fans into Lower Manhattan.
City officials have confirmed that preparations have been underway for days behind the scenes, with agencies coordinating security, transportation, and crowd control ahead of what is expected to be one of the largest public celebrations in recent New York history.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani described the moment as both emotional and historic, saying the city is ready to honor a team that delivered New York its first NBA championship since 1973.

When is the Knicks parade?
The Knicks championship parade will take place on Thursday, June 18 at 10 a.m. (local time), beginning in Lower Manhattan. Officials expect crowds to begin forming early in the morning, particularly around major viewing points along Broadway.

What fans should expect
City officials are warning that this will be a high-attendance event, with hundreds of thousands of fans expected to line the streets.
That means early arrival is strongly recommended. Expect heavy security and bag checks in key areas. There will be significant street closures in Lower Manhattan and limited vehicle access near the parade route. Public transit will be the primary way to reach viewing areas. Officials are treating crowd management as a top priority given the scale of the celebration.
A historic parade
This will be the first ticker-tape parade in Knicks franchise history, marking a rare moment. It also represents a cultural milestone for New York, bringing together decades of anticipation, fan loyalty, and a long-awaited return to NBA glory.

From watch parties to spontaneous street celebrations after the title win, the city has already been in full celebration mode. Thursday’s parade is expected to take that energy to another level entirely.
