Lakers fans worried about LeBron’s latest twist

The new-look Los Angeles Lakers side will go up against the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA regular season in what is set to be a fascinating match-up for a number of reasons.

First and foremost, Luka Doncic will be going up against his old team, just weeks after securing a move to California in a trade that sent shockwaves through the world of basketball.

LeBron James injury update

One aspect of the pre-game chatter has been the fitness of LeBron James, who continues on the Lakers' injury list with the recurring foot issue. However, it’s not all bad news as the veteran is listed as ‘probable’, meaning the doctors must be quietly confident of his progress. As well as LeBron, Maxi Kleber is out of action after undergoing right foot surgery.

So far this season, LeBron James has appeared in 51 games, with an average of 24.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 0.9 steals, 0.6 blocks, and 2.3 three-pointers per game. Luka Dončić, meanwhile, has played 26 games, averaging 26.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, 7.5 assists, 1.9 steals, 0.4 blocks, and 3.2 three-pointers per game.

The Lakers, ahead of the game, hold a 34-21 record, placing them fourth in the Western Conference. They are currently on a six-game winning streak, with their most recent victory being a 123-100 win over the Denver Nuggets.

The Lakers will face off against the Mavericks on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 10:00 PM ET. The game will take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California.
