The Boston Celtics snapped the Lakers eight game win streak and brought LA back down to Earth in Luka's return to Boston. Jayson Tatum was the MVP, and he was quick to give credit to all of his other teammates in the post game interview with Lisa Salters.

This was the biggest game Luka has played as a Laker, and while he scored 34 points and had 8 rebounds he never seemed to find his groove. He had a couple turnovers in the first half, but played much better in the second half. It was his first game in Boston since losing Game 5 of the Finals, and tonight he goes home with another bitter memory in Beantown.

Long bombs from L&L
Lebron and Luka are locked in already here from the Garden. They both showed their exceptional range in front of the home crowd here in Boston. The C's are the three point specialists but LeBron and Luka are coming to town looking the kings off their throne.
Lakers starters
These are your new look Lakers. Luka and LeBron have become one of the most dangerous duos in the league almost over night and tonight might be their biggest test yet. It's Luka, LeBron, Austin Reeves, Dorian Finney-Smith and Jarred Vanderbilt.
Celtics starters
It's one of the best starting fives in the NBA. The defending NBA champs are bringing out the big guns to welcome the Los Angeles Lakers. Tatum and Brown are the headliners but White, Holiday and Horford are going to play key roles in tonight's game.
C's injury report
Tonight the Celtics should be playing with all hands on deck. Boston will have Jaylen Brown back after he missed last game along with a handful of other players. Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday are both listed as questionable but both are expected to play in tonight's massive matchup.
Know your role
Last game it was all about Jayson Tatum, but Derrick White and Payton Pritchard made Celtics history a couple games ago against the Portland Trail Blazers. The duo, who usually are the role players Boston, took over and in a game with no Jayson Tatum, Prozingis or Jure Holiday. White scored 41 points, and Pritchard dropped 43 off the bench to become the first Celtics duo to score forty points in the same game. Think of all the legendary names that have played in Boston. Never had that been done before, and when it did happen, it wasn’t Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum. It was White and Pritchard etching their names in the history books.
LeBron dust up in NY
It’s not all sunshine and lollipops for the Lakers lately. While things are going great for the team, LeBron has started to take target at the media. He talked about why no one is going want to be the face of the league anymore after a being constantly ripped despite still being one of the best players in the league over two decades since he came into the league. Now people aren’t just taking aim at LeBron, they are doing so at his son Bronny. Stephen A. Smith is one of the ones who has been most critical of LeBron and Bronny’s situation. LeBron saw Stephen A. At Madison Square Garden and was ready to square off with the talk show pundit. He got in his face and gave Stephen A. a stern warning about talking about Bronny.
NBA Standings
Taking a look at the standings in the Eastern and Western Conference we see both of these two teams near the top spot in the table. The Celtics are sitting comfortably in 2nd place in the East behind the Cleveland Cavaliers. They have a five game cushion over the Knicks, but trail the Cavaliers by 8 games. It’s likely that Boston will be heading into the postseason with that 2 seed, which is where the Lakers stand right now in the West, but things are a little tighter in their conference. They trail the first placed Thunder by 11 games, but are tied with the Nuggets in the standings. The Grizzlies and Rockets aren’t too far behind them, sitting two and three games behind the Lakers and Nuggets. The final stretch in the West is going to be loaded with drama, but tonight we focus on an interconfertnce matchup between two legendary franchises.

Star watch: Celtics
The Celtics are the most complete team in the league. They have showed that for the last couple of seasons not just the last year when they won the title. Last game they didn’t have more of the players that make this team the most complete side in the NBA, so that left the brunt of the scoring burden on Jayson Tatum. Tatum had no problem stepping up to the plate and carrying the team to victory. He had 35 points on 23 field goals and is averaging 26.9 points, 8.8 rebounds an 5.8 assists. Being on the Celtics, where the workload is so often evenly distributed, Tatum is going to find it tough to be in the MVP conversation, but he is the best player on the best “team” in the league.
Star watch: Lakers
The Luka Doncic trade was shocking, it was stunning, it was unforeseen, but what’s happened since the Doncic trade hasn’t been stunning, unforeseen or shocking. Luka and LeBron have merged effortlessly and the Lakers are rolling. They have won eight straight games and shot up the standings and are looking like one of the most dangerous teams in the Western Conference. After a couple of games that took him a while to get accustomed to his surroundings, Luka has been rolling. He has scored 30+ points in four of the Lakes last seven games, and has 27 totals assists in the last two games. He isn’t just scoring. He’s doing a little bit of everything for LA, and that has taken the Lakers from a good team to a title contender.
Last game: Celtics
The Celtics won their third straight game against a battered and bruised Philadelphia 76ers squad, but Boston went into the game with a couple of star names on the sidelines with injury. Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Al Horford and Kristaps Porzingis missed the game and that meant it was all on the shoulders of Jayson Tatum and he carried them in a wire-to-wire win. Tatum had 35 points and 7 rebounds as the bench chipped in 59 points and Boston cruised to a 123-105 win.
Last game: Lakers
The Lakers needed more than 48 minutes to topple the New York Knicks who had a commanding lead in the fourth quarter, but let it slip as LA forced the game to OT. Luka Doncic and LeBron James were sensational combining for 62 points and completing the double digit comeback in the final minutes. Gabe Vincent hit a couple of huge threes to help extend the game and once in OT it was Doncic putting the Lakers out in front with a couple of tough shots over KAT. Jalen Brunson was a one man wrecking crew for the Knicks but his twisted ankle that he suffered late in the game allowed the Lakers to take command and keep command. LeBron had 31, 12 and 8 assists while Luka put up 32, 7 and 12 assists in the win.
