LeBron James to reach historic, never-before-achieved NBA milestone on Tuesday

In LeBron James' 22 seasons in the NBA, he’s set a lot of records and on Tuesday, he’ll set one that may never be broken again.

Update:

The Los Angeles Lakers will play the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night, and I’m taking a wild guess here that LeBron James will score at least one point. If he does, he’ll reach an NBA milestone that’s never been reached before, and likely will never be reached again.

LeBron chasing 50,000 points

On Sunday night, LeBron James scored 17 points in the Lakers' 108-102 win over the Los Angeles Clippers. That brought his total career points scored (between the regular season and playoffs) to 49,999.

He just barely missed the 50,000-point mark as Luka Doncic led the team with 29 points and Dalton Knecht followed with 19. He’ll have to wait until Tuesday to officially hit the mark against the Pelicans. No other player in NBA history has hit 50,000 career points. LeBron, who’s been in the NBA for 22 seasons now, will likely be the only player ever to reach it.

James is already the all-time leading scorer in NBA history in the regular season with 41,837 points. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar held the previous record for 39 years until LeBron surpassed him two years ago. He’s also already the leading scorer in playoff points with 8,162, surpassing Michael Jordan’s record in 2017.

The Lakers are on a hot streak, having won six of their last games and currently No. 2 in the Western Conference behind the Oklahoma City Thunder. If they make it to the championship this year, they’ll do so with James hitting more incredible milestones along the way.
