Mavericks 120 vs 106 Kings summary, stats, scores and highlights | NBA Play In

The Mavs have two NBA champions on their squad, and they both came up huge in a must win game. Klay Thompson and Anthony Davis know what it's like to be in these kinds of situations and that showed on Wednesday night. AD had 27 and 9 rebounds and Klay went 5/7 from three point range and ended the night with 23 points.
The Kings are heading to an early exit while the Mavs will now turn their attention to the Memphis Grizzlies who they will play on Friday night from FedEx Forum
It was a complete performance from the Mavs who looked like the only team on the court that wanted their season to continue. Once they got that 20 point cushion they kept it for the rest of the night. Everything the Kings threw at them was met with a counter on a frustrating night for the Sacramento fans.
The Mavs had bigger plans for Anthony Davis than having him ball out on a Play-In night, but they had to get through the first game and they'll have to get through the next game on Friday if they are going to see him stand out in the playoffs. He was fantastic on Wednesday night, and not just scoring the rock.
Klay Thompson has been in plenty of must win situations over the course of his career and that was evident on Wednesday night. He hit four threes in a matter of five minutes and the Mavs built up a massive lead before the halftime break.
The lead changed hands more than a few times in the first quarter as both teams exchanged blows, but Klay Thompson and the Mavs landed the knockout blow before the halftime break. Klay started to heat up and showed us he's got plenty more in the tank should the Mavs get a chance at a playoff push.
It wasn't just on the inside that the Mavs were dominating. Brandon Wllliams and company shot 50% from the three point line on a night that Williaims had 17 off the bench.
The Dallas Mavericks went into Sacramento and dominated the Kings to survive fo at least another game. Anthony Davis led the way with 27 points and 9 rebounds as the Mavs stamped their ticket Memphis to play the Grizzlies on Friday night.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM SACRAMENTO!!!!
Kings starters
It's do or die time for the Kings who have a chance to extend their season another night in front of their home fans. Coach Christie is going with Keon Ellis, DeMar DeRozan, Zach LeVine, Keegan Murray and Domantas Sabonis to start the evening from Sacramento.
Mavs starting five
It's been a season to forget for the Mavs, but they have a chance to keep this forgettable season alive for at least one more night. Coach Kidd is going with Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall, P.J. Washington, Anthony Davis and Dereck Lively II to start the game here from Golden 1 Center.
Miami up big in early tip off
Tyler Herro is in takeover mode from Chicago. The Heat are up big late in the 4th quarter and Herro has 38 points to lead his team over the Bulls. Barring a miracle, Herro and the Heat will be heading to Atlanta for an all or nothing game on Friday night.
Season series
The Mavs have played the Kings three times this season, and in each of those three games, it was Sacramento coming out on top. The first of which came in late December when the Kings won 110-100. The second went to OT in Dallas, but the Kings pulled that one off as well. The last match up came on March 3rd and the Kings took the season series with the 122-98 win from American Airlines Center. Neither Luka Doncic nor Anthony Davis were around for any of those match ups. Luka was hurt for the first one, and was traded before the final two. Davis didn’t play in either of the two games due to injury.
Mavs injury list
In the last game of the regular season head coach Jason Kidd decided to sit some of his stars. Anthony Davis didn’t play, neither did P.J. Washington or Dereck Lively II. Tonight Davis is listed on the injury report, but he is probable to play, while Washington and Lively aren’t even listed on the injury report. Kyrie Irving is obviously out after tearing his ACL last month, but besides the absence of their point guard, Coach Kidd is going to have a full squad at his disposal for the biggest game of the season.
What’s waiting for winner
The Golden State Warriors narrowly beat the Memphis Grizzlies last night in San Francisco, wrapping up the 7 seed and earning the right to play the 2 seed, Houston Rockets, in the first round of the playoffs. The Grizzlies now go home awaiting the winner of this game and they will face off in another do or die match up for the 8th seed in the West. The winner of that game will take on the top seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the playoffs.
Midseason movement
It was the trade that rocked the NBA. Luka Doncic was traded overnight to the Los Angeles Lakers in a secret deal that Nico Harrison set up without any NBA insiders or players on either respective team knowing about. Luka left, and the Dallas Mavericks have been sliding since. The fans have turned on the front office, and the recent results have only fueled that anger. On the other hand, Sacramento also traded away the face of their franchise in a deal that made less headlines and less noise around the league, but the absence of De’Aaron Fox has been devastating for the Kings. They are 16-18 in the games since the trade, and this is their final chance to start the turnaround this season.
Star watch: Kings
The Kings are going to rely on their big men to bring a bit of consistency down low. Domantas Sabonis has been the back bone of this team for the last few years and the center who can drop a triple double on any given night is going to have to lead his team to the win tonight. Sabonis is averring 19 points, 13.9 rebounds and 6 assists this season and he is the motor that keep this team running. He is used to these sorts of situations, and if the Kings are going to live another day, their star center needs to be a big part of the equation.
Star watch: Mavs
There is no question about who the Mavs need to have a big game tonight in Sacramento. Anthony Davis was the key part of the return package from LA to replace the star power Dallas lost when they sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers in February. Davis had a brilliant debut to his era in Dallas, but Mavs fans saw an all too familiar sight with their newest star when he injured his groin and was forced to sit for a few weeks. He has played just 9 games with the Mavs, but is averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds in those nine games and he is going to have to be massive tonight against the Kings who are stacked in the paint.
Last game: Kings
The Kings knew they were in 9th place and weren’t going to move from that spot before the Play-In but they did play their big guns and that led to a wire-to-wire win. OK, they trailed in the first minute of the game, but they took the lead and held it for the final 47 minutes of the game thanks to 22 points and 10 rebounds from Valanciunas and 20 and 12 from Domantas Sabonis. Sacramento had a double digit lead going into the final quarter and kept that cushion to close out the season with a 108-98 win.
Last game: Mavericks
The Mavs knew they weren’t rising or falling up or down the standings on th final day of the regular season and for that they kept Anthony Davis and a couple of their other stars sidelined against a Memphis Grizzlies team that was hoping to steal a direct playoff spot on the final day before the postseason started. The Grizzlies took a double digit lead at the end of the first quarter and stretched it out by as many as 41 points. Daniel Gafford led the Mavs in scoring but that was no match for Lamar Stevens who put up 31 points as three other Grizzlies ended the night with 20 or more points in the 132-97 win.
