Miles Bridges’s wife breaks her silence; shares photos of injuries from alleged domestic abuse
The wife of Miles Bridges, Mychelle Johnson, broke her silence Friday and released a series of photos of her injuries from alleged domestic abuse.
Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges reportedly turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police department following an alleged physical altercation with his wife, Mychelle Johnson, on Tuesday night.
Less than 48 hours later, Johnson took to instagram, sharing photos of what appeared to be the injuries she sustained during her altercation with the 24-year-old.
What did Miles Bridges do to his wife?
In addition to showing pictures of the domestic violence that seem to be a concurrent event, Johnson also posted an image of a hospital discharge form reading the following diagnosis: “Adult victim of physical abuse by male partner; assault by strangulation, brain concussion, closed fracture of nasal bone, contusion of rib, multiple bruises, strain of neck muscle.”
Miles’ Bridges wife: “I can’t be silent anymore”
Johnson finally broke her silence and spoke openly about the incident, asking for no sympathy, but rather for this to stop happening to her and anyone else. “I hate that it has come to this but I can’t be silent anymore. I’ve allowed someone to destroy my home, abuse me in every way possible and traumatize our kids for life,” Johnson wrote. “I have nothing to prove to the world, but I won’t allow anyone who could do something so horrible to have no remorse and paint a picture of something I’m not. I won’t allow the people around him to continue to silence me and continue to lie to protect this person. It’s unethical, it’s immoral, it’s truly SICK. It hurts my heart because I’ve always had hope, and so much love and as scary as this is for me to do, it’s time I stand up for myself.”
Bridges facing felony domestic violence charges
Bridges, who was a first-round draft pick by Charlotte in 2018 and spent his first four seasons with the Hornets, has since been released after posting bond on a $130,000 bail, but is facing charges of felony domestic violence.
His arrest comes at the rear of NBA free agency. And looking back at the season he just had, the free agent was set for a huge payday.
Bridges set only career highs this past season, averaging 20.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Since going No. 12 overall in the 2018 Draft, the 24-year-old has been greatly improving on the field every year.
Charlotte Hornets release a statement
The Hornets issued a statement on Thursday morning regarding the forward’s arrest stating that they are aware of the situation but have no further comment.
