Kevin Durant trade demand: How is KD’s contract? Salary, years left...

As conversations about where Kevin Durant will land make noise around the league, we take a look at the superstar’s contract, salary and all relative info.

Update:
Reporte: Nets quieren intercambio más grande de la historia por Kevin Durant
ELSAAFP

For the last few weeks, and for what felt like ages, the stalled negotiations on an extension between Kyrie Irving and the Nets have resulted in speculation that Kevin Durant could request a trade if his teammate leaves Brooklyn.

This week, after endless speculations, Durant has finally requested a trade from the Nets, effectively ending a bizarre era of relying on an unpredictable Irving.

How long is Durant’s contract?

Back in the summer of 2019, Durant signed a four-year contract with the Nets, including $189,078,320 guaranteed with an annual average salary of $48,554,830. Both Irving and Durant actually became Nets at the same time, but Durant ended up signing a contract extension with the team last offseason while Irving didn’t. The four-time scoring champion and three-time Olympic gold medalist inked a four-year, $198 million extension that will keep him under contract through 2025-26.

In other words, Durant still has four years left on his contract, starting at $43 million this year due to that extension he signed last August.

That’s a rare situation storming across the league just as the NBA Free Agency kicks off, likely making a lot of NBA teams, if not all, look into the possibility of acquiring one of the top players in the league.

Where is Durant going next?

That being said, Durant is also eying out his preferred teams, with reports that the 12-time All-Star is considering the Phoenix Suns as his optimum destination, and the Miami Heat as another option. As ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski said, there’s no shortage of teams willing to unload assets for Durant with four years on his contract.
