Update: Lakers win

The inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament is almost at its end and we can say it’s been a wild ride. Left standing are the Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers. They are led by a legend who many argue is the GOAT of the sport, while the Pacers have been inspired by a rising star who has forced his name into the MVP conversation. What’s at stake when the teams meet in the championship game on Saturday night? A shiny new trophy and a decent chunk of change.

NBA In-Season Tournament Final: Is it LeBron James vs Tyrese Haliburton?

Following an absolutely thrilling pair of semifinals. We’ve got the last two teams standing in the form of the Los Angeles Lakers from the Western Conference and the Indiana Pacers from the Eastern Conference. Where the Lakers are concerned, they are in fact the No. 1 seeded team and it’s got to be said they were worth that rank when they dominated the New Orleans Pelicans in the semifinals in what turned out to be a 133-89 win. LeBron James was front and center with 30 points on the night as well as eight assists and five rebounds.

In the other semifinal, it was the Tyrese Haliburton show despite a spirited effort from Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks. In the end, the Pacers clinched a 128-119 victory. This is all to say we expect fireworks when the teams meet on Saturday, December 9th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Tip-off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET.

What about the prize in the In-Season Tournament championship game?

As you know, the NBA has designed and created a new trophy: The NBA Cup. Yet, we can all assume that many if not all will be more interested in the purse that’s up for grabs. To be clear, each member of the winning team will receive $500,000, which it has to be said isn’t too shabby. It doesn’t stop there either, as the losing team in the In-Season Tournament championship is guaranteed to see each member receive $200,000 just for making it to the final showdown.
