Projected Miami Heat starting five for 2025/26 NBA season after roster shake-up
The Heat are desperate to improve on 2024/25, when they finished 37-45 and were swept by the Cavs in the first round.
The NBA offseason is heating up, and the Miami Heat are right in the thick of it. Following a disappointing 2024/25 campaign that saw them finish 8th in the Eastern Conference at 37-45 and get swept in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers, the franchise is making bold moves to return to contention.
The Heat front office has wasted no time reshaping the roster, ushering in a new era with several notable departures and fresh additions aimed at reigniting the team’s competitive fire.
Major departures: Heat say goodbye to key veterans
The most high-profile exit so far is sharpshooter Duncan Robinson, a longtime Heat staple known for his three-point prowess. He was traded to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Italian forward Simone Fontecchio.
Meanwhile, Kevin Love and Kyle Anderson are both headed to the Utah Jazz as part of a three-team deal that landed Norman Powell in South Beach. Powell, who spent the last few seasons with the Clippers, brings scoring punch and veteran experience to the Heat backcourt.
New faces and promising talent
Davion Mitchell will stay with the Heat after arriving from the Toronto Raptors in February. The team also added Lithuanian guard Kasparas Jakucionis, a 2025 draft pick out of the University of Illinois, and Vladislav Goldin, who signed a two-way deal after going undrafted.
