Real Madrid legend takes jab at Doncic’s Lakers move
Toni Kroos went to watch Doncic play for the Lakers, and his social media comment after the game raised eyebrows.

Luka Doncic’s move from the Dallas Mavericks to the Los Angeles Lakers was perhaps the most controversial trade in modern NBA history. The Slovenian made the move with Anthony Davis going the other way, and fans of the sport as a whole continue to rub their eyes at the madness that has unfolded in the aftermath of the bombshell switch.
Ever since his move to the NBA from Real Madrid, Doncic has made the league his own, performing at an extremely high level and cementing his name in the top bracket of players in the country.
And now, one Real Madrid legend has had his say: Toni Kroos, the recently retired german midfield maestro of the soccer team, travelled to the United States where he watched a Lakers match and caught up with his former ‘teammate’.
On Instagram, however, Kroos wrote: “Still prefer to see you in a blue shirt @lukadoncic…Good to see you mate. Do your thing 🎩 “, a typically cheeky stab from Kroos at the move made by the 25-year-old.
The caption caused a stir on social media, with basketball legend Sergio Llull writing “too much magic in one photo”, and Lucas Vázquez, Kroos' former teammate, saying “I also preferred you in white”, expressing his sadness at the decision of the World Cup winner to retire at the end of last season.
