Spurs 112 - 102 Warriors summary, stats, scores and highlights | NBA

The Golden State Warriors went into San Antonio and got a big win without Stephen Curry, taking down the Spurs 112-102 from the Frost Bank Center.

Sean Elliott, former Spur, and now Spurs commentator said it best on the Bally Sports broadcast. Jackson-Davis will tell his grandkids about this dunk on Wemby that sealed the Warriors win late in the 4th quarter. He ended the night with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and it's safe to say that Golden State has their heir to Draymond Green's position.

as.com

Paul found Kuminga slashing to the basket in the 4th quarter as Wemby tried to carry the Spurs to a comeback late in the game. Kuminga finishd the game with 22 points and he continues to back up his early season plee to Steve Kerr for more playing time.

as.com

Jackson-Davis is a tremendous athlete that can jump with the best of them and that makes him such a good defender as well as spectacular around the rack. We have seen him D up guys like Giannis when the Warriors played the Bucks and Wemby on Monday night.

as.com

Even though Curry was sidelined, Klay Thompson came off the bench as Steve Kerr has found something he likes with the other Splash Brother leading the second unit. He 14 in the first half and finished the game with 21.

as.com

There is a lot of talk surrounding Jonathan Kuminga being the break out sensation of Golden State's season and it's well deserved. Another guy who has exploded onto the scene in his rookie season. He came off the bench and had some big minutes on both ends. This dunk was one of his highlights of the night, but it wasn't THE highlight of his night.

as.com

With Curry on the bench, it was Chris Paul getting the start and he looked like the Chris Paul of old. He has played a limited role in Golden State, but this little stretch where he gets to start may come in handy for the Warriors later down the road.

as.com

The Golden State Warriors avenged their loss against the San Antonio Spurs over the weekend with a much needed win without Steph Curry, who sat out a second straight game with a sprained ankle. Klay Thompson and Jonathan Kuminga stepped up in his absence, leading the Warriors to the 112-102 win.

It wasn't the smoothest start for the Warriors who went down by 10 in the first quarter thanks to some fantastic shooting from the Spurs. Brandon Podziemski came off the bench and provided a spark with a couple quick threes in the first quarter.

WE ARE UNDERWAY FROM SAN ANTONIO!!!

as.com

GS starters

With Steph Curry sidelined, it's going to be Chris Paul taking his place in the starting five while Klay Thompson will continue to come off the bench. Thompson has found success with the second unit, so he will come off the bench as Paul links up with Wiggins, Moody, Kuminga and Green.

as.com

Spurs starters

Well, well well. After a day long of reports that stated Wemby wasn't playing, he is in the starting five tonight for San Antonio. He had missed the previous two games and wasn't even listed as questionable earlier today but he is in Coach Popovich's starting five. Wemby is joined by Vassell, Jones, Champagnie and Sochan coming out of the gate.

as.com
Why are Warriors’ Steph Curry and Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama not playing tonight, Mar. 11th?

Tonight there will be some serious star power missing in San Antonio. Neither Steph Curry, nor Victor Wembanyama will feature for tonight's Western Conference showdown from Frost Bank Center.

NBA Standings

Western Conference picture

Taking a look at the standings in the Western Conference we see both of these teams well behind the leaders that are hanging out around the top of the table. The Spurs weren’t expected to compete in the West despite drafting a generational talent last spring. They are currently sitting at the bottom of the conference with a record of just 14-50. The Warriors were supposed to be better, but injuries and aging have made keeping pace with the leaders more complicated. Instead off chasing a one seed they are trying to keep out of Play-In position, but they are currently in 10th with a record of 33-30. They are 11.5 games back of the first placed Thunder, but only 3.5 games back of the 6th placed Suns who have the final automatic playoff spot. The 6th spot is well within reach, but this team has to figure out how to get wins in the time that Steph Curry has to be sidelined.

as.com

Ready. set. Kumin-go

With no Steph Curry for at least the next few games, the Warriors are going to have to find someone else to lead them in this crucial time of the season. Klay Thompson is still a sharp shooter from the perimeter, but he isn’t able to carry a team on his shoulders on a consistent basis. He may be young, but it’s time for Jonathan Kuminga to put this team on his back and claw up the standings. He is averaging 15.9 ppg, but since the turn of the new year he has become the Warriors leaders despite being only 21 years old.

as.com

Spotlight on Keldon

The Spurs are without their biggest star and their top ticket seller which means it’s time for Keldon Johnson to take over the brunt of the scoring duty again. He showed what he is capable of last game, dropping 22 points on 9/18 shooting and he is going to have the green light again from the Frost Bank Center. The Spurs third leading scorer is averaging 16 ppg this season, but has yet to score more than 30 points in a game.

as.com

Warriors last game

The Warriors were coming off a home loss to the Bulls that saw Steph Curry roll his ankle and miss the rest of the game. He was on the sideline again against the Spurs, and the Golden State offense struggled to score with one of the best shooters in the history of the game unavailable. Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 27 off the bench, and Jonathan Kuminga chipped in another 26, but a 43 point first half had the Warriors chasing the Spurs for the rest of the game. The Warriors would go on to lose their third game in the last four, and fall even farther behind the rest of the pack in the West.

as.com

Spurs last game

The Spurs went into the Bay Area and added to the Warriors problems by stifling them at the Chase Center. They were without Victor Wembanyama, but that didn’t keep them from leading for almost the entire game. Keldon Johnson led the Spurs with 22 points in a game that San Antonio took the lead late in the first quarter and held the lead until the finish line. The Spurs shot over 50% from long distance and extended their lead to as many as 21 in the second half.

as.com

We are live from Frost Center

Hello everyone and welcome to San Antonio where the Spurs return home for their next eight games, and they are coming off a win in Golden State to wrap up a brief road trip. The Warriors are in a bit of a slump that could wind up being costly if they don’t right the ship soon. They will be without Steph Curry for at least the next few games which means the rest of the team is going to have to step up in his absence. They were unable to do so last game against the Spurs, but they will get another crack at them tonight.

as.com

Warriors vs. Spurs

The Golden State Warriors are desperate to climb out of Play-In position in the Western Conference, but they are currently in a slump that has them falling farther from the 6th seed and closer to getting bounced from the post season entirely. The San Antonio Spurs don’t have much for postseason hopes but they can play spoiler, which they did against the Warriors last game and will try to do again tonight. AS English will be with you all night providing live coverage, stats, highlights and analysis of tonight’s game from the Frost Bank Center.
