The Kevin Durant saga: Fans have mixed feelings

Some fans are put out with the Kevin Durant story, others are happy to have him back with the Nets. But they all agree - they’re happy to have a conclusion.

Update:

It’s about time. That was the basic consensus of the Brooklyn Nets fans on hearing that Kevin Durant will stay with the team in 2022.

“He never left. He just wasted two months of our lives talking about something that was never a deal in the first place,” said one disgruntled Nets fan.

It’s been a long few months since KD first requested his trade back in June, but we finally have a conclusion. I hate to break it to the Nets fans, though, but I doubt the drama ends here. What happened here is that the Nets just waited it out, buying themselves as much time as possible. They made a trade essentially unachievable, asking for an All-NBA player, All-Stars, and draft picks. No one could afford it.

Then, Durant requested that Nets manager Sean Marks and head coach Steve Nash be fired. They weren’t. And now KD is back.

Awwwwwwkward.

KD, to me, he should go. He should leave. He shouldn’t be in Brooklyn, Brooklyn’s not really for him,” said another fan. “Him and Kyrie aren’t working out, I don’t know how many times you’re gonna keep trying, but he might as well give it up.”

There is bound to be some tension for a while. We also know that Durant could ask for a trade again, really at any time. So the future is secure, but only for now.

“If he’s on the court, it’s positive,” said a more optimistic Nets fan. “I just hope the locker room stays okay, that Nash is okay with him asking him to be gone. If he’s on the court, he’s one of the five best players in the world, no question. So, it could be positive.”
