The Knicks aiming high in 2025

Eighth consecutive victory for the New York team, which has already greased the machine and has the Celtics within reach.

When the season began, the New York Knicks appeared to be the main candidate to make things a little more difficult for the seemingly untouchable Boston Celtics.

At the moment, the Cleveland Cavaliers are ahead, leading the East with a five-win advantage (28-4). And the Knicks started off slow, uncoordinated and losing more than expected. Since Jalen Brunson’s arrival, all the moves have been in the same direction: trying to be as much of a contender for the ring as possible. Last season, OG Anunoby arrived. This summer, Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns. A team made to win and, of course, to sweep the regular season. They finally seem to be at that moment.

Another triple-double for Josh Hart

On Monday, they beat the Washington Wizards (106-126) for the second time in three days. In the first, Brunson had to give his all (55 points). Today, he didn’t have to. It was more of a team effort, although they also had their standouts. Josh Hart, that tireless player who does everything and who puts in the same effort in the first minute as in the 48th. A guy who seems to be made in the mold of his coach, Tom Thibodeau. Hart got his third triple-double of the season and the ninth since he’s been with the Knicks: 23 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists.

The other standout was the team’s best player so far this season. Towns had 32 points and 13 rebounds and his signing is undoubtedly a substantial improvement over Julius Randle. It’s safe to say now. The Dominican is playing the best basketball of his career and shouldn’t be far from the top favorites in the race for the MVP.

It took a while to get things going, but the Knicks, thanks to several stumbles by the Celtics, are already half a win away from equaling the champions in the standings.

The Knicks targeting second place

If the Cavs don’t slow down, the second position that New York and Boston are playing for could be vital in terms of having home court advantage in a hypothetical conference semifinal that could very well be an early final.

Let’s hope that Mitchell Robinson is back on the court, who is expected to make his debut in the next few weeks. A key player, especially on defense, for the Knicks, who are short on players if there’s one thing they don’t have much of.

Next up for Thibodeau‘s team, the Utah Jazz who are struggling at the foot of the Western Conference (7-24) - at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.
