The NBA ‘drafts’ Kylian Mbappé

The best basketball league in the world and the PSG star’s production company have reached an agreement to create content for a global audience.

The NBA has officially announced an agreement with Kylian Mbappé's recently-created production company Zebra Valley. In a statement, the basketball league explained that the two parties have struck “a multiyear content creation partnership that will engage fans around the world”.

The new partnership between the PSG star and the NBA was revealed during the 2022 Draft ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the home of the Nets. The French footballer was accompanied by 15 youngsters from his Foundation who flew out to the US with him from France, joining him on stage with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver together with the players selected in the first positions of the draft, the future stars of the NBA.

Bringing football and basketball fans together

Mbappé gave his thoughts on the new deal with the best basketball league in the world: “The strategic partnership between Zebra Valley and the NBA represents a significant step in bringing football and basketball fans together around premium content by telling stories that matter. We look forward to working with the NBA team to encourage dialogue among global communities and make cultural conversations more relevant”.

The NBA meanwhile, said that they are equally as thrilled with the new working partnership, as NBA Head of Fan Engagement and Direct-to-Consumer for Europe and the Middle East, George Aivazoglou explained, “Drafting Kylian Mbappé into the NBA family speaks to the global appeal of NBA basketball and the convergence of the league, the global football community and popular culture. We look forward to working with Kylian and the Zebra Valley team to create unique, compelling content that will engage and inspire fans around the world”.
