The player who made the infamous flagrant foul on Caitlin Clark is now teamless in the WNBA and heading to the Mexican league

During a meeting between the Sky and the Fever in June 2024, Chennedy Carter made headlines with a heavy knock on Clark.

There was heated public debate after the Chicago Sky and Indiana Fever played last year
Update:

Former Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Charter has officially left the WNBA, signing with Adelitas de Chihuahua in Mexico’s Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP) Femenil.

Carter has had an itinerant career so far, playing for teams in Turkey, Poland, China, and the United States before confirming the switch to Mexico. She was named in the WNBA All-Rookie Team in 2020 but fell out of favor with Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. She was not offered a new deal for the 2025 season.

She has been an unrestricted free agent since January but was unable to secure a move to another WNBA team. Carter has courted controversy in the past, most notably with an infamous incident involving Caitlin Clark.

When the Sky faced Clark’s Indiana Fever last year Carter was called for a flagrant foul after bumping into Clark in an off-the-ball play. The incident seemed to color impressions of Carter, who was having a solid season for the Sky. Less than a year on, she was unable to find any WNBA suitors and has opted for a switch to Mexico.

Carter average 17.5 points per game during the 2024 season, the 12th-most in the entire league. However her most infamous involvement remains the clash with Clark.

Speaking about the incident recently, Carter sought to downplay the incident: “It’s one of those things that just happens in basketball.. It was just like a little tap, like ’I’m here.’ Not to like harm or anything.”

“It’s one of those things. I’m a great player, she’s a great player,” she continued. “Everybody is gonna have their views on it, and my personal view is that I don’t have anything against her.”
