Timberwolves forward Taurean Prince arrested in Miami

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Taurean Prince has reportedly been arrested at Miami International Airport on a fugitive out-of-state warrant.

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Taurean Prince has been arrested at Miami International Airport on a fugitive warrant out of Texas.

According to David Ovalle of the Miami Herald, sources say the charge is based on traces of drugs discovered during a traffic stop in Texas, and the 28-year-old did not know about the warrant before Thursday.

The player was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, and is still reportedly in custody.

Moving from team to team

Prince is a native of San Antonio, Texas, and played for Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He was selected by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the 2016 Draft as the 12th pick overall. He was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in a three-team agreement that also included the Indiana Pacers.

He signed a rookie contract with the Hawks and played with them for three years, while also seeing action with the Long Island Nets as part of the NBA Development League.

Prince was traded to the Brooklyn Nets in 2019, to the Cleveland Cavaliers two years later, then to the Timberwolves last year, in exchange for Ricky Rubio. He has just signed a two-year, $16 million contract extension with Minnesota, and was expected to be a key figure for the team in the coming season.
