A new rule will be implemented to address the issue of flopping in games. When a referee calls a flop, a non-unsportsmanlike technical foul will be called on the team of the offending players. As a result, the opposing team will be awarded a free throw. Referees have the option to delay calling a flop during a game and wait until the next stoppage in play to make the decision.

Players who commit flops during games will be penalized with a free throw for the opposing team. The flopping rule change is set to be implemented for a one-year trial period.
