As NBA fans come down from the excitement of the recent 2023 NBA Finals, where the Boston Celtics clinched a record 18th title, eyes now turn to next season and, before that, the 2024 NBA Draft, with the results of the Draft Lottery having provided the order.

Atlanta Hawks get No. 1 draft pick: who will they select?

The Atlanta Hawks were the big winners, with the lottery assigning them the first pick in the draft. The Washington Wizards (No. 2), Houston Rockets (No. 3) and San Antonio Spurs (No. 4) will also likely be happy with how things worked out.

The Hawks were initially expected to land the projected No. 1 pick, widely tipped to be French sensation (for the second year in a row after Victor Wembanyama), Alex Sarr. The 19-year-old center currently plays for the Perth Wildcats in Australia, having previously performed in the Overtime Elite league (for 16-20 year olds) in... Atlanta. Some things seemed destined to be.

But things have changed and reports are that Sarr will go to the Wizards, with Atlanta eyeing another Frenchman, small forward Zaccharie Risacher or UConn center Donovan Clingan for first pick. Kentucky duo Rob Dillingham, a point guard, and Reed Shepherd, a shooting guard, are also likely to go early.

Where and when is the 2024 NBA Draft?
