When will the 2023 NBA All-Star reserves be announced?

The NBA All-Star Game features 24 of the top players in the league. While fans, the media, and players vote for the starters, coaches elect the reserves.

Basketball fans have less than a month until they see their favorite players compete in the NBA All-Star Game which takes place in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Fan voting is wrapping up and the starters and team captains for the matchup of the best players from both the Eastern and Western conferences will be announced on Thursday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.

Fans, players, and a media panel cast votes to decide on the starting lineup. Votes from the public account for 50%, while media and the players get 25% each. The starter who tallies the biggest number of ballots in each conference is named the team captain.

It’s a different story for the reserves. After the starters are determined, it’s the turn of NBA head coaches to choose who will make up the seven All-Star reserve players for each conference. The coaches are not allowed to vote for players from their own teams.

When will the 2023 NBA All-Star reserves be announced?

The results of the head coaches’ vote will be revealed on Thursday, Feb. 2. The fun begins after all the players have been chosen and announced, as the two captains will then draft their own lineups.

The NBA has yet to provide the date and process of the All-Star Draft, as well as the format and rules for the All-Star game itself.

The 2023 All-Star Game will take place on Sunday, Feb. 19, at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah. Tip-off is at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
