According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, it is anticipated that Kyrie Irving, an unrestricted free-agent point guard, will sign a new maximum contract with the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavericks have the ability to provide Irving with a maximum contract of $272.9 million over five years, which is the highest amount any team can offer the eight-time All-Star.

Irving has been absent for significant periods over the past few years due to legitimate injuries or personal reasons. Thus many teams are concerned about committing to Irving long-term. During the span of four years, the 2016 NBA Champion participated in an average of 41 games per season, which is relatively low considering the player’s high level of skill and ability.

Kyrie Irving possible destinations?

Irving is anticipated to have a meeting with the Mavericks and potentially other teams, such as the Rockets and the Suns, who may express interest in meeting with him.

The Los Angeles Lakers are the only team where the guard will likely consider going. This is because he wants to reunite with his former teammate LeBron James, who Irving has reportedly contacted to discuss the possibility of joining him in Dallas.

The Lakers general manager, Rob Pelinka, is focused on re-signing the players who contributed to the team’s success in reaching the Western Conference Finals last season. But he would have to take an extreme pay cut to join his former teammate.
