Will Caitlin Clark play in the preseason game against the Dream today, May 9?
The Indiana Fever star was the team’s main attraction in their pre-season opener, but will she feature against Atlanta?
Not many times the Indiana Fever has attracted so much attention before the start of the WNBA regular season. The reason is that the team selected Caitlin Clark as the first overall pick in the 2024 draft.
Despite being only 22, she has become an icon in the sport and has boosted women’s basketball ratings, attendance, and merchandise.
Clark debuted for the Iowa Hawkeyes in 2020 and became the greatest scorer in college basketball history. She netted 3,951 points across four campaigns and passed Pete Maravich for the most points scored by a Division I basketball player, men’s or women’s, held for more than half a century.
With these credentials, it’s no secret that there’s so much hype around the West Des Moines native, who has been compared to Steph Curry for her spectacular game style.
Will Caitlin Clark play against the Atlanta Dream?
The Fever fans already had the chance to see Clark in action for the first time since she signed Indiana. It was in the team’s first pre-season game against the Dallas Wings.
Indiana fell short in their attempt to defeat their opponents (76-79), but Clark had a promising performance, as she scored 21 points and added three rebounds, two assists, and two steals in her debut.
“It’s definitely different, but that’s what you expect when you start a new chapter of your life. It’s fast, a fast shot clock, but it fits my game well”, she told reporters after the match.
The rookie star will also feature in the team’s second pre-season game vs. Atlanta Dream. It will be Indiana’s final test before the start of the WNBA season against Connecticut Sun on May 14.
