Will LeBron James pass Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record Thursday?

All eyes are on LeBron James, who is expected to return to the Lakers’ lineup Thursday, as he chases Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record.

The Los Angeles Lakers have been hit by an injury plaque that gave them no chance against the Denver Nuggets on Monday.

Russell Westbrook carried out the burden to lead his team through the 122-109 loss without several important players like LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Lonnie Walker IV, Austin Reaves, and Troy Brown Jr., who are all out with multiple injuries.

And while James sat out Monday night’s matchup, he is bound to break history sooner or later when he returns to the court with Los Angeles.

Is LeBron James passing Abdul-Jabbar’s scoring record?

The Lakers star is currently at 37,965 regular-season points for his career, which is keeping him 422 back of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time NBA record of 38,387.

Assuming James returns to the LA lineup on Thursday night against the Dallas Mavericks, remains healthy, and maintains his season scoring average of 29.1 points per game moving forward, he’ll pass Abdul-Jabbar on February 9, when the Lakers host the Milwaukee Bucks.

James sits just 1,325 points behind Abdul-Jabbar and it’s just a matter of time before he becomes the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
