2023 March Madness: Could Princeton become the first Ivy League team to make it to the elite eight?

Princeton beats Missouri on another upset by the Tigers in this NCAA tournament.

Once more in NCAA tournament history, a number 15th seed has reached the Sweet 16 round. Princeton became the second team to do it after beating number 7th seed Missouri by 78-63. The Tigers, in their right, have become the fourth Ivy League team ever to reach the Sweet 16. Princeton was led by the excellent performance of Ryan Langborg, who scored 22 points for the team.

The Tigers’ win against Mizzou confirms their intention to compete in a serious tournament regardless of their seed. Princeton already beat number two seed Arizona in the first round, and this new win ensures that other teams take the Tigers seriously. They dominated Missouri so badly in this game that they never were close to five points in the second half.

Can Princeton be the first Ivy League team to make it to the Elite Eight?

The Tigers’ run can continue as their basketball seems very stable. Their defense is in top form, and both tournament wins were far from flukes. There is no reason to believe that Princeton can’t reach the Elite Eight.

They will face the number 6th seed, Creighton. The Bluejays come from defeating the Baylor Bears 76-85 in an exciting game and another upset in the NCAA tournament as Baylor was seeded 3rd.

The game between Creighton and Princeton will be on the 25th of March at 8:00 pm ET.
