R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
Jacksonville State vs. Louisiana
The Jacksonville State Gamecocks will play in their first-ever bowl game on Saturday against the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns in the Superdome for the New Orleans Bowl. In their first year at the FBS level, Jacksonville State went 8-4 in Conference USA under their head coach, Rich Rodriguez, making them a slight favorite in the college football odds over Louisiana. Louisiana, on the other hand, will be making its sixth straight appearance in a bowl game.
Avocados from Mexico Cure Bowl
Appalachian State vs Miami (Ohio)
The Cure Bowls of the last four years have all been very close games. The upcoming game between the Miami (OH) RedHawks and the Appalachian State Mountaineers may continue this trend.
According to college football analysts, the Mountaineers are favored over the RedHawks. Despite winning the MAC Championship with their excellent defense, Chuck Martin’s RedHawks will need to maintain their defensive dominance in what could be a low-scoring game. This will be especially important given their quarterback situation.
Isleta New Mexico Bowl
New Mexico State vs Fresno State
The Isleta New Mexico Bowl will witness a clash between New Mexico State Aggies (10-4) and Fresno State Bulldogs (8-4) on Saturday. This season, the Aggies won 10 games, a significant feat for the second time in school history and the first time since 1960. However, they lost to Liberty in the Conference USA Championship Game in their previous encounter.

LA Bowl hosted by Gronk
UCLA vs Boise State
This weekend, two college football programs will meet for only the second time in their history. The first meeting was in 1999 when UCLA defeated Boise State 38-7 at the Rose Bowl. The Bruins have had a rough season-ending, losing their last game 33-7 to in-state rival Cal. UCLA started the season strong with a 6-2 record but finished it with a disappointing 4-5 record in conference play. On the other hand, Boise State is on an upward trajectory after a rocky start to their season. The Broncos were in danger of having their first losing season since 1997, but with the help of interim coach Spencer Danielson, they managed to finish the season with a three-game winning streak.
Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl
Cal vs Texas Tech
Both teams had barely made it to the bowl season with just six wins and were allowed to play on the opening day. Cal concluded their season with a massive 33-7 victory over UCLA on the road, where they completely dominated the Bruins despite being listed as 9.5-point underdogs. On the other hand, Texas Tech’s season came to a close with a crushing 57-7 loss against #7 Texas, where they failed even to cover the 16.5-point spread as underdogs.
