The drama continues with Colorado Buffaloes star Travis Hunter and his fianceé Leanna Lenee. Hunter was thrust into the spotlight when he became one of the finalists to win the Heisman Trophy. The Colorado Buffaloes standout played as a cornerback as well as a wide receiver, and won the award for his contributions on both sides of the ball, beating out Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

Winning the award got him even more attention, and brought attention to his personal life as well - namely, his fiancée, Leanna Lenee.

The drama with Leanna

After the awards ceremony, Lenee received backlash on social media due to the fact that she was the last to stand up and first to sit down after Hunter was announced as the winner, with many people accusing her of being stuck up or rude.

The reaction led people to do more digging, finding and spreading any clips they could that would paint Lenee in a bad light and warning Hunter to stay away from her. The couple has been together for almost three years, having gotten engaged in February 2024. After the social media backlash, Hunter took to social media to defend Lenee, and Lenee herself posted an eight-minute video to Instagram explaining herself.

“This is making me so mad because anyone who knows me knows I support Travis in every win, everything he does, because I truly, truly love that man,” Lenee said. “He is perfect in my eyes. When his name was called, I instantly was going to... If you watch the video, you can see me like [gestures like she was about to stand]... But his mom didn’t get up. So I was like, ‘Oh, maybe I don’t get up. Maybe I just sit here with her.’ So I sat there and then you all said, ‘Coach Prime had to tell me to get up.’ No, he didn’t. He said, ‘Go get him. Go get your man.’ But he didn’t have to do that because I was going to do that anyways.”

Lenee first made her Instagram private but left her TikTok public. But after what happened this weekend, both she and Hunter have completely deactivated their social media accounts.

Over the weekend, a video surfaced of Lenee appearing to dance on another man. The video is believed to have been taken long before Lenee and Hunter began dating, but that didn’t stop the internet trolls from dragging her through the mud. Even former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant had felt compelled to give his two cents.

Dez Bryant urges Travis Hunter to move on from fiancée

Bryant posted his thoughts on the matter to X, in a post that he’s since removed.

“I’m here to tell you, brother...wake up and quit playing... she loves the attention way more than you.”

Bryant said he “tried” to stay out of this conversation, but after the latest video, he couldn’t keep his opinions to himself. The criticism has been so bad that it appears both Lenee and Hunter have gotten tired of defending themselves and decided to shut down social media altogether.
